The Pulp Area Process Manager is a leadership position in the company's Pulp Mill department and reports to the Pulp, Power, & Recovery Business Unit Manager. The Area Process Managers role is to provide leadership to the Pulp/Chipyard team and operating shift crews to achieve the mill and Pulp Mill Department objectives, and facilitate sound business decisions. This position is responsible for 6 batch digesters, 3 pulp washer lines, and chipyard.</p><p> The Pulp Area Process Manager is responsible for executing the Pulp Mill department objectives including safety leadership, environmental compliance, determining departments capital needs, equipment upkeep, and in meeting operational targets. In addition, the Pulp Area Process Manager must ensure that the department complies with requirements of the Pulp Technology Policy Manuals. Position Level can range, commensurate with experience and qualifications.</p><p> Position Requirements:</p><p> Assure a safe and highly motivated workforce by demonstrating leadership in safety and engagement; exhibiting safety leadership and encouraging safety engagement Ensure 100% environmental compliance Ensure 100% compliance to State, insurance and company operating regulations Lead department to an accident and injury-free work environment through leadership by example, being a Safety Leader and modeling safe behavior, and supporting established safety initiatives Set and maintain high standards in housekeeping. Establish standards and specific expectations and make frequent inspections. Hold operators accountable for housekeeping. Work with Pulp Maintenance leadership in coordination of day-to-day maintenance activities and manage a prioritized daily and outage work order backlog. Communicate with maintenance supervision, make rounds on equipment, and write work orders. Actively participate in troubleshooting and the RCFA process. Responsible for completion of RCFA action items and tracking results. Schedule maintenance in a cost-effective way that supports the operation of the Pulp Mill and Chipyard areas. Schedule and plan monthly and annual maintenance outages. Communicate with other departments and with management as to their outage schedule and production running schedule. Responsible for the successful planning and execution of all capital projects. Responsible for cost control of all aspects of Pulp Mill and Chipyard. Meet budgeted wood, energy and pulping chemical usage by establishing KPI and holding operations accountable to meet them Provide leadership to troubleshoot operating and maintenance issues through MWS and a strong basic care system Provide leadership, clear direction, and develop personal accountability to maintain a satisfactory work environment for all employees. Treat each employee with respect and dignity, and hold others to the same standard Hold meaningful and effective one-to-one discussions with members of the Pulp Mill operating team; set clear expectations for both team and individuals Direct and lead all manufacturing activities on the operating line in a manner that meets or exceed performance, reliability and budget commitments Coach, lead, support and assist in developing approximately 32 production employees in the Pulp Mill department Continuously improve the operation by staying current with new technologies, implementing best practices, identifying non-value added elements and modeling continuous process improvement Use GMTI principles to ensure a highly trained workforce knowledgeable of the process and equipment</p><p> Qualifications:</p><p> Minimum of 5 years of relevant operations management experience Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Management or related field is strongly preferred; equivalent education / experience combination is required The successful candidate will have a knowledge of the Kraft cooking process, brownstock washers and Woodyard processes Experience and knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) and Cluster Rules is a requirement Demonstrated record of safety and environmental commitment and results Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate to groups and individuals at all levels Ability to manage and coordinate multiple tasks Understands and utilizes the principles necessary to achieve and maintain a high performance organization Strong leadership skills focused on accountability and results Desire to work with maintenance as a team Strong commitment to reliability and to the use of Manufacturing Excellence tools / work systems to ensure sustainability of progress</p>
