Labor Relations Representative Jobs

Responsibilities:

• Assists in the correct application of labor contract rules and past practices.
• Investigates grievances to determine appropriate response. This includes cases that lack precedent and require action beyond clearly applicable contract language. May represent the Company through the early steps of the grievance procedure.
• Prepares Company responses to grievances based on interpretation of facts and contract language. The manager consulted when no clear precedent exists.
• Deals with disciplinary issues such as written warnings and disciplinary hearings.
• Administers in-factory subcontracting in areas such as notice, documentation, working with engineering, and other activities to avoid violations of the labor contract.
• Coordinates with related departments such as Medical, Payroll, and Human Resources to resolve and better manage the production/maintenance employees.
• Trains new supervisors on contract administration. Administers workforce movement according to master and local agreements

Requirements:
Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge in the following areas:
• Current labor agreement and labor law.
• Compensation programs and benefit plans for production/maintenance employees.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and factory operations..
• Skill in interpersonal communications, negotiation, and conflict resolution.

Must be flexible to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift.
