<p>Extrusion Design EngineerHawthorne, NJ 07506$65,000 – $85,000 a year</p><p>Our client is a premiere custom plastic extruder, they specialize in providing high quality, precisely engineered, customer-specific plastic extrusion products for a variety of different markets.</p><p>To support the technical effort of the Company through the design, building, testing, and use of production equipment in order to produce quality parts for customers.</p><p>Major Areas of Responsibility of Design Engineer:</p><p>Prepares, directs, and coordinates the design, fabrication, and implementation of production and secondary proprietary equipment.Makes a technical evaluation of the feasibility of customer ideas as they apply to the development of samples, products or parts, and makes appropriate recommendations regarding desirable changes in design to meet production capabilities at a favorable cost.Prepares or directs preparation of prints for equipment resulting in understandable working drawings for tool and die, production personnel, and outside vendors.Specifies various materials needed for design projects, such as metals, components, etc., to ensure availability for successful completion of projects. Interfaces with Purchasing to procure materials.Keeps currently informed of new or improves methods or techniques, components, and materials to ensure maximum effectiveness and design of tooling, equipment and customer products.Is proficient in the operation of the AutoCAD and SolidWorks and instructs other engineering and personnel in its operation.Provides supervisor with expected completion dates of projects.Performs other accountabilities as apparent or assigned.</p><p>Other Performance Indicators</p><p>Designs of equipment are completed on schedule and consistent with estimated costs.</p><p>Completed designs and equipment accomplish what is requested.</p><p>*Project documentation and training are completed on schedule.</p><p>*Continues to improve technical abilities through study, reading, discussions, and assuming new responsibilities.</p><p>*Projects a professional/leader type image.</p><p>*Suggest methods for improved performance of existing machinery (both production and tool & die).</p><p>*Demonstrated technical knowledge and the ability to effectively communicate such knowledge verbally and in written form.</p><p>Education/Experience</p><p>2 or 4-year Engineering DegreeThree years of design-related experience in a manufacturing environment.Plastics Manufacturing experience preferred.</p><p>Skills</p><p>Excellent drafting skillsGood conceptual and visualization skillsGood interpersonal communication skillsExcellent mechanical aptitudeAdvanced skills with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks</p>
