<p>Large nonprofit organization in NYC needs:</p><p>Senior Development Officer</p> Five to seven years of related experience in a nonprofit or in an educational environment. Excellent writing skills; grant writing experience a plus. Knowledge of current education reform essential. reports to the Vice President for External Affairs to cultivate and maintain strong relationships with institutional donors. develop viable written proposals for key corporate and foundation donors; cultivate and maintain donor relationships through stewardship activities; ensure that proposals in development reflect company needs and priorities. will play a critical role in designing new initiatives and ensuring that they are competitive in the donor universe In close collaboration with senior management and with program and development staff. The role requires a deep understanding of the conventions of successful grant proposals, strong writing facility, and keen grant management instincts.<p>Responsibilities:</p> leading company efforts to identify and secure institutional funding for key programs; with senior management and finance teams, identify and address key fundraising priorities and contribute to strategies for securing a diverse base of corporate, foundation and government support. Oversee creation of letters of interest, proposals, reports and concept papers. Ensure that materials are developed that address foundation and/or government funding priorities. Determine appropriate company program staff for collaboration; initiate kick-off meetings and create proposal work plans; support the creation of logic models; support or conduct research and assist with evaluation plans and review; work with key internal staff and external partners to draft and circulate proposals for review and revision; work closely with other members of development team (3) to coordinate efforts and ensure alignment to overall strategy. fundraising efforts for a select portfolio of company programs and funders, including prospecting and research to identify new sources of support, proposal and report writing, and donor management. Act as liaison to select donors, facilitating communication, site visits, and participation in company events to deepen their involvement. Contribute to the design and maintenance of systems to track progress related to existing grants and pipeline proposals; share findings with program staff with the appropriate level of urgency. Collect or supervise the collection of data and evidence from various department units to support the creation of strong donor reports and updates. Act as development department liaison to program staff, helping to refine grant goals, objectives and desired outcomes, track progress of grants to ensure accountability, build relationships between the donor and the program, and fulfill all grant obligations. Develop lists of prospective donors for new and existing programs, prioritize for further research and develop cultivation and solicitation strategies in collaboration with development unit team members. Ensure timely acknowledgment, proper follow-up, and adherence to deadlines. Support maintenance of donor activity and research in Raisers Edge.<p>Requirements:</p> Bachelors degree required; masters in education or related field preferred. Five to seven years of related experience in a nonprofit or in an educational environment. Excellent writing skills; grant writing experience a plus. Knowledge of current education reform essential. Excellent strategic thinking skills, written and verbal communication skills, and ability to market ideas. Must be able to set priorities and move multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, identify and communicate potential needs or problems, and be flexible when priorities are unexpectedly shifted. Tact, diplomacy and ability to work as part of a team with diverse people important.
