Mercedes Benz Vans Development Engineer (EE) Jobs

Responsible for all technical consultation in the engineering field of E/E and Powertrain for the North American market.

•Coordinating and being responsible for overall developmental vehicle activities
•Commissioning the development of components with a limited number of functions. Supporting and coordinating dates, cost and quality with departments and external companies. Supporting purchasing through answering technical questions for awarding contracts
•Ensuring functional suitability and feasibility of the modules, systems and parts to be developed with regards to projected costs and deadlines within the scope of the overall vehicle
•Preparing and documenting project assignments and commitments
•Close and proactive coordinating with adjoining departments such as purchasing, budgeting, assembly planning, quality, localization, suppliers and development service provider
•Technical supervision of local suppliers and development service providers in relation to parts which are being localized in North America
•Date and milestone tracking by means of the overall vehicle plan
•Supporting the sub-project leader of development in steering, organizing and conducting project reviews and maturity assessment (reporting)
•Planning complex and extensive tests/trials of systems and modules
•Designing, within the scope of predetermined concepts, solutions for components and modules taking project guidelines (e.g. costs, quality, weights and dates) into consideration
•Developing contributions on a component level to specification sheets: Working and agreeing on contributions to specification sheets for components (including dates and costs)
•Developing concepts for components with a variety of functions
•Coordinate complex diagnostic- and troubleshooting workshops during initial startup process for components, digital networks and telematics-/powertrain control units
•Analyze and check software functions and coding for different network units
•Track and coordinate change- and release-management with adjoining departments

•Bachelor's Degree in automotive, mechanical or electrical engineering
•0-5 years of experience in the development department of powertrain, E/E and thermomanagement components
•In depth knowledge and work experience of electronic/electric components and E/E topology
•Experience in the field of telematics and digital networks (development, production or service)
•Practice in handling common calibration, measurement and diagnostic tools (ETAS - INCA, Ecoute, Monaco, etc.), ideally knowledge of functional development, coding and application of engine and transmission controllers
